About the Program

The M.Sc. in Remote Sensing & GIS is a postgraduate program designed to equip students with advanced knowledge and practical skills in geospatial technologies. The curriculum integrates remote sensing, geographic information systems, photogrammetry, and spatial modeling to address real-world challenges in natural resource management, environmental monitoring, urban planning, disaster risk reduction, and climate studies. Through research projects, laboratory training, and hands-on applications with satellite data and geospatial tools, students develop strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, preparing them for careers in academia, research institutions, government agencies, and geospatial industries.

    • M1 – To Impart quality education and equip the students with strong foundation that could make them capable of handling challenges of the ever-advancing geosciences technologies.
    • M2 – To Maintain state-of-the-art in research and outreach facilities in phase with the premier institutions for sustained improvement in the quality of education and research.
  • PEO
    • PEO 1 – To provide students with advanced theoretical knowledge and practical skills in remote sensing, GIS, photogrammetry, and spatial modeling for solving complex geospatial problems.
    • PEO 2 – To cultivate expertise in applying geospatial technologies for addressing challenges in natural resource management, environmental monitoring, urban planning, disaster risk reduction, and climate studies.
    • PEO 3 – To foster critical thinking, research aptitude, and interdisciplinary collaboration, enabling students to design and implement innovative geospatial solutions.

Eligibility

Minimum 50%marks in B.Sc. (H)/BA(H) in Geography/Statistics/Mathematics’/Physics. Plus, JET (JIS University Entrance Exam).
