About the Program
The Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm.) is a four-year undergraduate program designed to provide a strong academic and practical foundation in pharmaceutical sciences. The program covers a broad spectrum of subjects including pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutics, pharmacognosy, pharmaceutical analysis, and clinical pharmacy. Through a combination of theoretical instruction, laboratory training, and industry exposure, the curriculum emphasizes both scientific knowledge and professional competence. The course is structured in accordance with the guidelines of the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), ensuring students gain the skills required to meet the dynamic needs of the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors. Eligibility
Candidates should have passed the 10+2 examination from a recognized Central or State Board or its equivalent with minimum 60%, with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects, and Mathematics or Biology as the 3rd subject.
WBJEE Exam: Student getting selected from WBJEE exam for B.Pharm Course must have 45% in PCB/PCM in State Board or JET (JIS University Entrance Exam).
Career Path
Once a B. Pharm. course is completed, there are good career opportunities. Graduates are essential to the IT, pharmaceutical, and healthcare industries. They work in the pharmaceutical industry, as well as pharmacists, clinical pharmacists, laboratory technicians, medical writers, medical representatives, and pharmacovigilance officers in various institutions. For the most part, B. Pharm graduates land jobs in the pharmaceutical industry in departments including production, QA, and QC. Additionally, Pharm graduates may apply for positions as Drug Inspectors with the Central Government and the West Bengal State Government after gaining the required amount of industrial experience. The B. Pharmacy graduates decide to pursue other alternatives like the M. Pharm. or MS in a specific pharmacy major field or the Pharm. D. through a national entrance exam like the GPAT, GATE. The graduates can also pursue their successful career in a different foreign university with a generous scholarship by passing qualifying exams like the GRE, TOEFL, and IELTS.
