About the Program

B. Pharm. is a four-year undergraduate degree in pharmacy, emphasizes pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical analysis, pharmacognosy, pharmaceutics, and pharmacy practice, among other areas of pharmaceutical sciences. Graduates of the B Pharma program possess the knowledge and abilities needed to work in clinical pharmacy, community pharmacy, manufacturing, quality control, research and development, and regulatory affairs, among other areas of the pharmaceutical industry.

Mission
  • M1 - To be one of the most preferred destination for aspirants in the fields of pharmacy education, research and entrepreneurship.;
  • M2 -To blend traditional methods with modern technology enabled practices in academic deliverable and meaningful research on medicine use and patient safety.;
  • M3 - To inculcate the moral values like honesty, integrity, team work and self-respect along with the technical knowledge which will create a complete human being.;

Eligibility

Candidates should have passed the 10+2 examination from a recognized Central or State Board or its equivalent with minimum 60%, with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects, and Mathematics or Biology as the 3rd subject.

WBJEE Exam: Student getting selected from WBJEE exam for B.Pharm Course must have 45% in PCB/PCM in State Board or its equivalent exam plus JET (JIS University Entrance Exam)

Career Path

Once a B. Pharm. course is completed, there are good career opportunities. Graduates are essential to the IT, pharmaceutical, and healthcare industries. They work in the pharmaceutical industry, as well as pharmacists, clinical pharmacists, laboratory technicians, medical writers, medical representatives, and pharmacovigilance officers in various institutions. For the most part, B. Pharm graduates land jobs in the pharmaceutical industry in departments including production, QA, and QC. Additionally, Pharm graduates may apply for positions as Drug Inspectors with the Central Government and the West Bengal State Government after gaining the required amount of industrial experience. The B. Pharmacy graduates decide to pursue other alternatives like the M. Pharm. or MS in a specific pharmacy major field or the Pharm. D. through a national entrance exam like the GPAT, GATE. The graduates can also pursue their successful career in a different foreign university with a generous scholarship by passing qualifying exams like the GRE, TOEFL, and IELTS.

PEO

  • PEO 1: To produce pharmacy graduates with robust foundational knowledge and high technical competence in pharmaceutical sciences and technology, enabling them to effectively apply these skills in the pharmaceutical industry and academic institutions for successful careers.
  • PEO 2: To provide students with a strong and well-defined foundation in various fields of pharmaceutical sciences, including pharmaceutics, pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacology, and pharmacognosy, aligning with the needs of pharmaceutical industries, community and hospital pharmacies. Additionally, to foster a sense of teamwork and promote awareness of the importance of an interdisciplinary approach in developing competence to solve complex problems in the area of pharmaceutical sciences.
  • PEO 3: To promote the development of a trained human resource in Pharmaceutical Sciences capable of delivering quality education with a highly professional and ethical attitude, strong communication abilities, and effective teamwork skills within a multidisciplinary framework.
  • PEO 4: To generate knowledgeable professionals with strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, capable of identifying, assessing, and formulating problems, and executing solutions within closely related pharmaceutical industries.
  • PEO 5: To train students to contribute effectively to the healthcare system and provide counseling for disease prevention and prophylaxis.
  • PEO 6: To encourage students to engage in lifelong learning for a highly productive career and to apply the concepts of Pharmaceutical Sciences in serving society.
