After passing the M.A., LL.B from the Calcutta University enrolled the name as an Advocate in the Bar Council of West Bengal in the year 1982. Then he started practice as an Advocate in the High Court at Calcutta and the City Civil Court, Calcutta. In the year 1985 he appeared in the West Bengal Judicial Service Examination and selected and joined in the Judicial service. In the year 2002 he was qualified for West Bengal Higher Judicial Service and held different posts in that capacity like Registar(Judicial Service) , High Court of Calcutta, Judge, industrial Tribunal and District & Sessions Judge of various districts like Purulia, Howrah and South 24 Parganas at Alipore where he was superannated on 30.06.2025. Soon after he was appointed as Judicial Member, State Consumer Commission where he served till 30.06.2020.
