About the Program

M.Sc. Chemistry is a postgraduate program, which is typically interdisciplinary in nature spans wide areas that include organic, inorganic, physical, analytical, materials, and biological sciences. Students gained advanced knowledge of Chemistry in this program and learn to apply it to the different academic and industrial problems for the benefit of the society. It has immense impact on the present scientific development.

Eligibility

Minimum 50% marks in respective BSc course plus JET (JIS University Entrance Exam)

Career Path

After completion of the program, students will receive numerous opportunities in academics as well as in industries. Students may appear for national/state level examinations such as NET/GATE/SET etc. and become eligible for teaching posts, scientific officers or opt for a research career at various renowned national laboratories like IISERs, IISC, IITs, CSIRs, IACS, BARC, DRDO, NTPC, NITs etc. Students may get jobs in various chemical, pharmaceutical, polymer, painting, ceramic, petrochemical industries like ONGC, IOCL, BPCL, etc.  Opportunities include, but are not limited to scientists, teacher ship, synthetic chemist, analytical chemists, environmental chemist, forensic scientist, patent agent, toxicologists etc.

PEO

  • PEO 1: To build a strong foundation in different branches of chemical sciences for higher studies keeping focus on scientific reasoning and analytical problem-solving with molecular perspective.
  • PEO 2: To develop and refine critical thinking towards problem-solving skills and motivate them towards innovation which has societal impacts.
  • PEO 3: To produce skilled manpower with in-depth knowledge of synthetic methodology and modern instrumentation techniques for conducting scientific research.
  • PEO 4: To convey chemical information to both professional networks and to the society effectively.
  • PEO 5: To nurture professional excellence, soft skills, moral values and ethics culminating in leadership qualities.
