About the Program
M.Sc in Physics is a 2 years Program where 10 core papers like Mathematical Methods, Classical And Relativistic Mechanics, Electronics, Electrodynamics, Quantum Mechanics, Computational Physics, Statistical Physics, Solid State Physics, Nuclear And Particle Physics, Atomic and Molecular Physics; Elective papers (student may choose three) like Advanced Quantum Mechanics, Advanced Electronics I , Advanced Mathematical Physics, Advanced Nuclear Physics, Advanced Experiments Of Physics, General Theory Of Relativity And Cosmology, Advanced Optics Energy Sources, Storage And Harvesting, Advanced Electronics Ii , Radiation Physics And Safety, Atmospheric Physics, Group Theory, Physics At The Nano Scale, Plasma Physics ,Astrophysics are taught. In addition Hand on Practice of different experiments, Project work and seminar presentation are introduced in all courses to get an overview of the on-going research and recent development in the subject.

Physics as a major at undergraduate and postgraduate level can help students get jobs offered by UPSC, PSC and alike. They can also appear for NET/GATE/SET and become eligible for teaching posts or opt for a research career at various renowned national laboratories like IISERs, IISc, IITs, CSIRs, IACS, BARC, DRDO, NTPC etc. Interested students may go to foreign universities for their research career or various jobs related to Physics. Students may also get absorbed in various petrochemical industries like ONGC, IOCL, BPCL, etc. as well as in various pharmaceutical companies. Physicists can also opt for careers as Artificial intelligence developer, astronaut, biophysicist, climatologist, nanophysicists, radiologists, software engineers as well as they can opt for analyst in finance and economy.
